Writing with The Scribe

How to write a technical guide from a conference talk

Begin with a workshop and its notes. Keep commands, versions and ordered steps exact, then test every example before publishing.

  1. Define the reader’s starting knowledge and the task they need to complete.
  2. Gather your talk, documentation, commands and examples.
  3. Choose the technical book type and check names, versions and units.
  4. Approve an outline that keeps prerequisites before the steps that need them.
  5. Test code and commands yourself; review warnings and references.

Keep a copy of your original material. Review the draft for meaning, accuracy and permissions before publishing. Formatting and exporting your saved book are free.
